It’s Thursday again in Swankytown USA.

That means edition #2 of The Weekender. We’ve got the lowdown on all of the happenings on Beach Drive this weekend – so you’ll never miss a thing.

THURSDAY OCT. 12TH

Movies in the Park: Some Like It Hot!

This Marilyn Monroe classic feature is hosted by St. Pete Preservation. The second installation of the 8th Annual Movies in the Park series will bring you back to the ’50s. Festivities start at North Straub Park at 6pm. For more details, click here.

Fine Art after 5pm: reduced admission to The Dali Museum & MFA

Fine art can be pricey. Thursdays after 5pm, visit the Dali for $10, and the MFA for $5. Have a glass of wine and stroll the museums for the perfect Happy Hour.

FRIDAY OCT. 13TH **Friday the 13th?!**

Beach and Beyond: Sundial Friday Night Music Series

Local singer/songwriter Ella Jet is set to perform dreamy, jazzy neo-classic tunes to delight your ears at Sundial St. Pete. She’ll begin her set at 6pm.

Beach and Beyond: Ale and the Witch Friday the 13th with the Damon Fowler Group

Live music from the Damon Fowler Group plays from 8:30-11:30pm. The Ale & The Witch crew will also be tapping up some special brews from Bowigens Beer Company. More information can be found here.

SATURDAY OCT. 14TH

Reduced admission the Dali Museum – just $10 at the door.

Closing a little earlier than usual, as the museum prepares for their newest exhibition, Dali & Schiaparelli’s opening gala, Dali gallery admission, access to Gala Cafe, and the Avant Gardens will be just $10 at the door (not available for online purchase).

Dali & Beyond Film Series: The Cell

The Dali & Beyond Film Series features monthly films from all genres that reflect Dali’s interests or style. Kicking off the museum’s new exhibition, Dali and Schiaparelli October’s movie theme is “‘Haute Couture Horror,’ featuring frightful films with extraordinary costume design.” Catch The Cell from 11:30am to 1:30pm at the museum.

Swing is the Thing: The Florida Orchestra

Conductor and arranger Jeff Tyzik will lead the Florida Orchestra, tracing swing’s influence into the 1950s and 1960s with tunes from Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy to Tuxedo Junction to Rock Around the Clock. The St. Petersburg show is at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Mahaffey Theater. Tickets $15-$45. (727) 892-3337. floridaorchestra.org.

Saturday Morning Market

St. Pete’s favorite way to say good morning is back on Beach Drive! After spending the summer in Williams Park, the Market is back with all of the goods – and eats – to make your Saturday morning sweet. Stop by Al Lang Stadium Parking lot from 9am to 2pm. St. Pete Preservation Waterfront Tour

St. Pete’s waterfront has a rich history, ranging from being the site of the fountain of youth to the departure point for the world’s first airline. Tour participants will learn about the history of the city, including the leaders who transformed our waterfront into the incredible park system it is today. The tour runs from 10am-12pm during the Saturday Morning Market, meeting at 1st Ave SE & 1st St.

SUNDAY OCT. 15TH

Masterpieces & Mimosas at the Dali Museum

Let’s get (Sur)real. What could be better than a Spanish brunch, complete with mimosas AND the wild works of Salvador Dali? No comparison. Grab a companion for your journey into weird and wonderful from 11 to 4pm in the museum’s Gala Cafe and find more information here.
