Rev those engines, St. Pete. It’s RACE WEEKEND. That’s right, Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is kicking off and the city is buzzing (literally). Get out and enjoy a beautiful weekend of Grand Prix fun, and the best people watching of the whole year.

THURSDAY MARCH 8TH

Dali/Duchamp Exhibit at the Dali Museum

The Dali/Duchamp exhibition invites you to examine the relationship between Salvador Dali and the father of conceptual art, Marcel Duchamp. The first exhibit dedicated to their friendship and its influence on the work of both artists  Dali/Duchamp explores the common ground, both personal and aesthetic, shared by these two modern icons. The exhibit brings together around 60 works, including some of Dali’s most inspired and technically accomplished paintings and sculptures, and Duchamp’s ground breaking assemblages and ready-mades.

Fine Art after 5pm: reduced admission to The Dali Museum & MFA

Fine art can be pricey. Thursdays after 5pm, visit the Dali for just $10, and the MFA for $5. Have a glass of wine and stroll the museums for the perfect Happy Hour.

Taking place on the waterfront street course in downtown St. Petersburg, the Firestone  Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is among the most respected motorsports events in North America and features a week-long festival-like atmosphere that includes the fastest racing series on the planet, celebrity athletes, live entertainment and interactive activities.

Grand Prix Movie in the Park: Cars 3 at North Straub Park

‘Embrace the Race’ and celebrate Grand Prix weekend with the City of St. Petersburg! Join us for a special screening of Cars 3 to kick off race weekend.

Time: Kids Craft Station begins at 5:30 p.m. – Movie begins at dark

Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg 5K

Race begins promptly at 6:15pm. The sixth annual fundraiser presented by Modern Business Associates (MBA) is slated for Friday, March 9, 2018, and will benefit Police Athletic League(PAL) St. Petersburg. On March 8 and 9, registration will be $40. Packet pick-up and onsite registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. Participants in the 5K run will begin south of Bayshore Drive until they reach the Firestone Grand Prix race track at Turn 9. They will turn right to do a lap around the temporary circuit, in counter race direction, then exit at Turn 9 to continue on Bayshore Drive toward the finish line at The Vinoy Park Hotel.

Indigo Girls at the Palladium

Twenty years after they began releasing records as the Indigo Girls, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers have politely declined the opporutnity to slow down with age. They have forged their own way in the music business, selling over 14 million records, and they are still going strong. The Indigo Girls are the only duo with top 40 titles on the Billboard 200. HYbar Happy Hour

Hit the bar at St. Pete’s newest hotel – The Hyatt Place St. Pete. Celebrate your long week with a cold craft cocktail or local craft brew while listening to local live music! Annual Beer Breakfast at Mandarin Hide

Join us Saturday morning from 9am-2pm for a bloody mary bar, pancake shots, and breakfast inspired cocktails that are sure to fuel you up for a day of racing! CANCELLED: Dali and Beyond Film Series

The Dali & Beyond Film Series features an eclectic selection of films – both familiar and fantastic – with monthly themes ranging from horror, experimental and psychological to kid-friendly and world cinema. In conjunction with The Dali Museum’s exhibition Dali/Duchamp, February’s Dali & Beyond Film Series features documentaries that introduce the two exhibiting artists, Salvador Dali & Marcel Duchamp.

Running for (Coffee) Brews!

Join Run For Brews every Saturday morning at 8am for a FREE 5K run in DTSP, followed by coffee and breakfast at Mickey’s Cafe on Central! The 5K is a beautiful waterfront route in downtown St. Pete… and runners receive 10% off food and drinks at Mickey’s on their return! Kick that New Years Resolution into full gear and get running! CANCELLED: Yoga at the Dali

From 10:30-11:45am every Sunday. Join Lucky Cat Yoga every Sunday at The Dali – a remarkable environment where Dali’s energy infuses the physical, mental and spiritual inspiration of yoga. Classes are held in the Raymond James Community Room or Avant-Garden, both with incredible views of the waterfront.

The Lucky Cats teach vinyasa yoga, an all-levels approach that incorporates an interplay of basic breath work, postures, meditation and relaxation. Each student is encouraged to awaken and sustain their practice at their own pace. Please arrive early on a light stomach. Don’t have a mat? We have several on hand to lend.

Cost: $10 members and students, $15 non-members.
